I will teach you how to generate sitemap and submit your business website and blog to search engine e.g. Google for them to notice your business website or blog exist. So when establishing a website or blog, you have been finding it hard to get traffic from Google and your site been found in Google search. The issue is that you have not generate sitemap for your blog and website and submit it to get index by Google.

You want to list your website or blog to Google search engine; I will be showing how to do that using yoast SEO plugin to generate sitemap and submit it using Google webmaster tool (Google console). All I want you readers to do is to follow me step by step to avoid mistakes. This also applies for business website too.
I know some of you, who are new to this, do not know how Google search engine works. Some of you think that you have to pay Google to generate sitemap and crawl your website or blog to get listed, you don’t pay for this it is free and easy to setup.
MEANING OF SITEMAP AND GOOGLE CONSOLE
Google search console is a tool that is free and easy to work on that let you control all your website and blog contents and pages from the search engine view point.
Site map is a XML file that has all the URL of your website and blog. XML file helps Google to find all the URL of your website
Let me put it this way, a sitemap contains all the URL of your website and blog
For those using wordpress there is a plugin that generate sitemap for your blog and website. But for others, use online site map generator to generate sitemap for your website and blog and submit it to Google webmaster tool (Google console).
HOW TO GENERATE SITEMAP USING YOAST PLUGIN
STEP 1: Install wordpress plugin called yoast SEO and activate it:
This plugin has many features to rank you higher which are:
- Generate sitemap
- Configure your content to rank higher
- Improves readability
- Optimize blog to be found on search engines and so on
STEP 2: Go to XML Sitemap, under the general, click XML Site map. It will generate sitemap for your blog and website. Copy the URL out and go to Google console to verify site ownership.
HOW TO VERIFY SITE OWNERSHIP ON GOOGLE CONSOLE
If you have not register for Google console do it now to verify your site and submit your sitemap click here
Google allow you to verify ownership of a website or blog using three methods which are
- Meta tag
- Upload an HTML file
- DNS verification
STEP 1 USING META TAG
Copy the Meta tag given by Google in the alternative method and then, go to your yoast plugin > general> webmastertool> you will see different search engine webmaster tool but paste your google meta tag inside the google webmaster tool box in the yoast plugin. When you paste it, go back to Google console and click verify. image below

STEP 2 UPLOAD AN HTML FILE
Download html file and go to your cpanel and upload it and then go back and click verify. Follow these steps in this image.
Download html file.
Go to your cpanel and click file manager
Click web root and click go
Click the upload option which you have to upload the html file you downloaded.
After the upload go back to your Google console and click verify. After the verification process the next step to take is submitting your sitemap.
STEPS TO SUBMIT YOUR WEBSITE OR BLOG TO GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE.
Go to your Google console dashboard (Google webmaster tool dashboard) at the right side you will see an option called “Sitemaps” Click “More” to see all the submitted sitemaps you can also submit any new sitemap inside the dashboard here.
Click on “Add/Test Sitemap” to submit your sitemap file
The sitemap you have generated, you can submit it inside here
After submitting your site map wait for some hours for it to be indexed
Once you are done by submitting your website or blog sitemap to Google search engine, it takes twenty four hours (24) for Google to crawl your website or blog.
